Masking effects corresponding to environmental patterns

ShopStrip_MasksProcedural or bitmap patterns can be used to visualize areas of and boundaries between different environmental domains. For example, one of the domains may allow an environmental process to take place while the other one inhibts the process. In our example brown areas are suitable for growth of a plant species whereas grey areas are not: While seed can land in the unsuitable area, they can only give rise to new plants in the brown areas (masking effect). EVO routines have been developed that handle envrionmental objects distinctly based on the domain context.
